Mission Statement:

FUSION Talent Showcase was founded to fill a void for adjudication opportunities in the performing arts community. We believe that every performer should strive to be his or her best, always growing, and seeking opportunities to further their performing arts education. Our Mission is not only to provide a quality, non-political performing experience, but to unite the community in a day of performing arts celebration!

Fusion offers multiple categories of competition with CASH PRIZES for the top competitors! Enter in dance, vocal, and wildcard categories in each junior (ages 12 and under) and senior (ages 13-18) divisions.

Divisions, Pricing, and Time Limits:

Solo (1 Performer) .     $25 per entry .    (Limit 2 minutes)
Duo (2 Performers) .    $35 per entry .    (Limit 2 minutes)

Small Group (3-5 Performers) .   $50 per entry . (Limit 2 minutes)
Large Group (6+ Performers) .   $10 per person (Limit 2 minutes)

***Ask how your studio or organization can earn free additional group numbers!

Categories:

  • Vocal – Solo, duo, and small group (3-5 performers) acts demonstrating vocal performance, show choir, or musical theatre style singing. Vocal category can include basic choreography, as long as vocals is the primary element of the act. (A piano will be provided, or performers can choose to play to a track. We do not provide an accompanist. We have 6 wireless handheld and 2 lapel microphones available.)
  • Dance – Solo, duo, and small group (3-5 performers) acts demonstrating dance performance in any style. Dance acts cannot include singing.
  • Wildcard – Solo, duo, and small group (3-5 performers) act demonstrating any form of talent not primarily dance or vocal. Talents may include but are not limited to musical instruments, rock bands, yo-yo, impersonations, lip syncing, martial arts, gymnastics, or anything else you can dream of! Musicians must bring their own amps and any other audio gear needed other than wireless microphones.

Remember that Fusion is a family friendly event, so all talents, music, lyrics, and costuming should be appropriate for all audiences.

Divisions:
Duos, small groups, and large groups will be placed in the division that meets the majority or average age of the contestants at Fusion’s discretion.

  • Junior – Performers are ages 12 and under as of the date of competition.
  • Senior – Performers are ages 13-18 as of the date of competition.

Awards:

A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner will be chosen in each of the categories for both the jr and sr divisions. If any category has less than 7 entries, only a 1st and 2nd place winner will be awarded. If a category has less than 5 entries, only a 1st place winner will be awarded.

Additional awards will be given based on a variety of criteria

People’s Choice Award: The audience will vote on their favorites in each section of the competition. Be sure to bring your cheering section so they can vote for you!

Judge’s Choice Award: Our judges will also each choose a winner that they feel deserves special recognition even if they did not place in the top 3 of their division category. These winners will be specially recognized with positive judges feedback on stage.

Caption Awards: We will have awards for other performers including outstanding choreography, outstanding technical merit, outstanding artistry, outstanding direction, and most entertaining.

What makes fusion DIFFERENT from other talent competitions?

It’s ALL about the FEEDBACK!

Judging Categories:
Acts are adjudicated by professionals from across the performing arts community and will receive valuable feedback about their performance, including personal commentary that goes beyond just a score value. Acts are also given a point score; the highest scoring acts will be eligible for cash prizes and more!

Vocal Scoring – Performers are scored on vocal technique (including tone, breathing, and projection), artistry (expression, connection to the storyline or mood of the piece), and overall presentation (choice of costume, entertainment value, appropriateness of song choice, connection to the audience).

Dance Scoring – Performers are scored on dance technique (including balance, alignment, and execution), artistry (expression, connection to the theme of the piece), and overall presentation (choice of costume, entertainment value, appropriateness of song choice, connection to the audience).

Wildcard Scoring – Performers are scored on technique (including execution, precision, and skill), artistry (expression, connection to the theme of the piece), and overall presentation (choice of costume, entertainment value, appropriateness of talent choice, connection to the audience).
